What is “Albe in Malga” (Mountain Hut at sunrise)? It is a travelling event that will make you spend a day as a cheesemaker in the mountain huts of Trentino. The smell of hay, the lowing of cows and the taste of fresh milk are just a backdrop to this unique experience!

Malga Trat: where it is and what you will find
Malga Trat is one of the numerous mountain huts of the Ledro Valley and it is located at a height of 1504m in the wonderful Concei Valley, a side valley with paths, beeches and unspoiled nature.
It is possible to reach Malga Trat, about 7 km from Good Life Garden Hotel, by car passing through Lenzumo and then through a comfortable asphalt road to the parking lot of the mountain hut (Road SS240 and SP119). From here, the road becomes a dirt road until the Refuge Nino Pernici. Alternatively, it is possible to reach it on foot or by bike, departing from Lenzumo and following the path CAI-SAT 403, a path that is quite steep and that stretches from the town at 800 m asl up to the 1504 m of altitude of the mountain hut.
In the Concei Valley the mountain huts are the preferred destinations for summer pasture for cows and goats. Here they can eat fresh grass and wildflowers, the secret ingredient to obtain best-quality cheese. Malga Trat is managed by the farm La Genziana and the young brothers Matteo and Stefania produce here cheeses, cottage cheese and butter in addition to syrups and jams.

Once there, you will discover the work that the cheesemaker performs every day at sunrise: the first task is milking and then the milk processing in order to turn milk into yoghurt, cottage cheese or cheese. You will enjoy a hearty breakfast with genuine products of the mountain hut, enjoying the beauty of the pastures and mountains. An unforgettable tasting experience!
After tasting sponge cakes, typical sweets and butter made with your hands, you can purchase Malga Trat’s zero mile cheeses. So, once you are at home,
you can feel the taste of our valley again.
If you want to explore the surrounding area we advise you to walk towards Pernici Refuge to admire the wonderful view of Concei Valley, Bocca di Trat and Lake Ledro. The only contraindication: you need to wake up before 6:00!
